Yacel sagarra (bio)
Yacel Sagarra was born in Santiago de Cuba in October 1987, showing a keen interest in art from an early age. Influenced by his father's passion for music, he grew up immersed in a environment of celebrations, songs, dances, and stories that unconsciously shaped the talent he carried within. At the age of 11, he composed and sang his first songs, guided solely by inspiration as he lacked knowledge of harmonic instruments. He memorized melodies, arrangements, and details without relying on digital media, due to limited resources.
In 1999, Yacel began seeking information systematically in cultural centers to refine his art, and in 2003, at the age of 14, he enrolled in the School of Art Instructors. He excelled in his creative and musical skills, mastering instruments such as the guitar, piano, and Cuban percussion, earning his first music degree upon graduation.
Throughout his career, Yacel Sagarra explored numerous musical projects, ranging from experimental formats to orchestras, groups of traditional Cuban music, urban and popular dance music, thus enhancing his artistic experience and maturity. Among his most notable projects are D´Trova (Alternative Trova), Quinteto "Ñico Saquito," Yacel & Aya Duo, and Son d´K.libre.
In 2012, Yacel moved to Havana, where he shared the stage with internationally renowned artists, expanding his exposure in national mass media. Two years later, he embarked on a new professional chapter by traveling to Japan, where he continues to pursue his passion for music and explore new creative opportunities.
